What does the Bible say about sin? What is sin? What is the Bible teaching on sin? For many, the topic of sin is a very uncomfortable and a sensitive topic; however, the Holy Scriptures speaks clearly about what sin is, why it is wrong, why we should avoid sin at all cost and what we must do when we fall into sin. Most of us have heard of the deadly sins mentioned in the Bible.

Living a life in sin is very dangerous and can lead to eternal life without God. 1 Peter 2:11 says "Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul."

Sin is immorality. There are many bible verses that talk about sin and death. Each one of us have committed sin at one point or another, and many continue to choose to live in sin. Romans 6:23 says the following: "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." If we are sincerely struggling and want God to intervene and change our life around, we must be willing to repent, to change our ways and to accept the will of God.

Repentance is acknowledging that you have sinned and wronged God. Are you having guilt, regret or remorse about the actions or choices in your life? Your repentance needs to be sincere and must be followed by the desire and willingness to change your ways, to change your actions and to change your thinking by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2 says "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."

Colossians 3:5 tells us to "Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry". In Galatians 5, verses 19, 20 and 21, (commonly referred to as the list of sins bible verse) the Holy Bible says "The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God."
